Frequently asked questions

Where does the Union Pacific network run?

Union Pacific owns about 25,402 route-miles of main line and operates over roughly 6,086 route-miles more under trackage rights, across United States (31,483 mi) and Mexico (5 mi). The solid line on the map is UP-owned track; the dashed line is other railroads' track UP trains run on.

Which transload facilities are actually on UP track?

189 of the 290 US facilities on this map sit within about a mile of UP's own network by FRA geometry, so a car can arrive single-line. The rest list UP as a serving railroad but reach it through an interchange or a shortline, or have an imprecise public coordinate. Toggle "On UP track only" to hide the interchange cases.

Why doesn't the map show every siding and yard?

The map draws the main sub-network only: through routes and major industrial leads. Yard tracks, sidings, and minor industrial leads are left out so the network reads at a national scale. Facility pins come from the transload directory, not from the track data, so a terminal can sit a short spur off the line drawn here.

Operate a transload facility on UP?

Your listing here is free. Rebulk also builds the software side: railcar tracking, BOL and scale ticket automation, demurrage clocks, and live bulk inventory, so every billable event lands on the record as it happens.
